There has been a number of instances of crime on campus. In 2011 there was a total of 41 thefts reported on campus, with 5 liquor/drug related violations also reported. Something also to be aware of, Huntington Beach is a seaside community which means there is a likely event of storm surge, and possibility of tsunamis.The community is also on fault lines which make earthquakes a safety issue as well. In the city there are 364 police officers for its 189,992 residents.

Due to the town being located so close to the beach, rent can get a little pricey. The average price of a one bedroom apartment is $1,349. That might be a little expensive for a college student, but getting creative with room layouts you could get more roommates so you can pay less rent. If you had more rooms, a three bedroom apartment could cost you over $2,500 a month.
