Fresno is dangerous. There’s no getting around it. There is a 1 in 19 chance of being a victim of property crime, and 1 in 102 chance of having your car stolen. Fresno ranked #1 for Most Stolen Cars in 2012. It is also called a meth capital by some. Along the 99 and Belmont are generally crime hotspots. North Fresno is a safer place to be, but overall, Clovis would be a nicer place to live. At FCC, the crime rate is pretty low for a college of its size. Car thefts and burglaries are really the only crimes that occur on-campus.

Fresno gets searingly hot in the summer, with days often over 100 degrees. Air conditioners are running full blast most of the year. Winter days are usually in the 50s or 60s. Fresno is very dry; water is usually rationed in the driest months. It is sunny just about every day, and the air quality is pretty poor. Federal ozone standards and particulate limits are exceeded regularly. This is definitely NOT a good place to live for those with allergies or asthma or sensitive lungs.
