San Luis Obispo, usually just called San Luis or SLO, is pretty well-known for all the outdoor sports and activities available to do. There are opportunities for hiking and biking trails just minutes from the downtown center, rock climbing, and lots of beautiful scenery, like the site of the Seven Sisters volcano plug, a view of the San Andreas fault, a dead lake called Soda Lake and its wide array of wildflowers, and beaches not too far of a drive from “SLO Town” where you can surf, water ski, sail, kayak, balloon, go on a boat cruise, and more. In town, there are wine tastings, a drive-in theater, the performing arts center, a farmer’s market on Thursdays, the Palm Theater which runs completely off solar energy, and outdoor mall called the Madonna Plaza Shopping Center. All in all, there are many things to do in SLO.

San Luis Obispo is known for its beautiful weather. In the winter months, the average temperature during the day is in the 60s, while in the summer, the temperature hovers around the upper 70s. Heat waves can occur at any point during the year though, and temperatures will reach into the 80s. Cool breezes off the ocean keep the days comfortable, so air conditioners are not a daily necessity. Storms don’t really ever happen here, and clearly, it would never snow. Mornings can sometimes be a little chilly in the 40s, but nearly every day is sunny. The weather is about as perfect as it gets.
