CSU LA has one of the toughest academic curricula out of any university in the city, and prepares its students to succeed in a large urban environment. Most CSU students find that the transition from school in the city to a career in the city is seamless. Some of them even keep living in the same apartment they had in college, or at least initially after graduation. If your goal is to work and live in Los Angeles, there aren’t many better school choices. It also doesn’t hurt that the campus is located in Monterey Park, just four miles east of downtown.
Nightlife

CSULA’s campus is an eight minute drive from downtown and a 15 minute drive from Central LA, although this isn’t taking the city’s pesky traffic into consideration. Buses also take students to and from various parts of the city, most commonly on the city’s Silver Line. With such great access to so many of the city’s neighborhoods, students can take full advantage of everything Los Angeles has to offer on the weekends. It has one of the country’s most exciting nightlife scenes, right up with New York City and Las Vegas. There are almost too many activities in the city; students could do something different every weekend and still would have plenty left on the to-do list when they graduate. Academics are important, but there’s no denying that part of the allure of coming to LA is for the nightlife.
