Hayward is home to many great restaurants. Val’s Burgers is a local favorite, with big portions, old-fashioned root beer floats, and though they are "Cash Only" with a tiny parking lot, they're always busy for a good reason! Another town favorite is Bijou, which has a nice atmosphere and great French cuisine. The most popular place for Chinese food is Kokyo, a sushi buffet with a wide arrange of options at a good price. For Italian, Buon Appetito is fantastic for a date night or a celebration and the service is always impeccable. La Pinata is the best for Mexican food, hands down. The food is fresh and authentic, the servers are attentive, and they are open until 3am for those looking to down some tequila!
Traffic & Commuting

Around rush hour, traffic can get annoying in Hayward, especially around Mission Boulevard, Winton Ave, and A Street. The further away you get from the center of Hayward, the less likely you are to run into traffic. Naturally San Francisco and San Jose are much worse in comparison, so you won’t feel as though Hayward is particularly bad. Definitely watch out for the 880 Freeway; traffic can be as bad as stop-and-go here and locals especially despise it for its number of accidents, potholes, and trucks.
