At AHC, there are many organizations and clubs to participate in and clubs to attend, though it doesn’t have as many things to do that larger colleges and universities have, such as Greek Life. There are plenty of things to do in town though, like golf, disc golf, bowling, go karts, visiting Preisker Park or Waller Park, paintball, the movies, and ice skating. PCPA Theatrefest puts on many high-quality productions like Wizard of Oz, Legally Blond, and Les Miserables, and everyone is always impressed with the actors. Lastly, there are numerous wineries in and around Santa Maria for those that enjoy tours of the vineyards and wine tastings. Santa Maria has beautiful weather. The air quality is pretty good, and most days are clear of clouds, especially July through October. The fog can be thick at times in the mornings. For a good six months of the year, it may not rain at all. Winters are not very cold, with temperatures in the 60s, and in the summer, it’s not too hot, with temperatures in the 70s. Temperatures rarely fluctuate from the 60s-70s range during the day. Because of the year-round mild weather, flowers are always blooming, so those with allergies may suffer at times.
