About 237,000 people live in Chandler. The population is about 77% White, 21% Hispanic, 4.3% Asian or Pacific Islander, 3.5% Black, and 1.3% Native American. Nearly 60% of the population in Chandler consists of married straight couples. The male-to-female ratio is pretty even. At CGCC, around 13,000 students were enrolled in the fall of 2010. The student body is 52% women, and 48% men. About 62% of students are White, 17% are Hispanic, 6% are Asian, 5% are Black, 2% are American Indian, and 8% are Other. Nearly half the student body is under the age of 20. About a fifth of students take night classes.

From June through October, the heat here is brutal. A/Cs are strained to their limits for months. If it does rain, it’s a thunderstorm. Summers are long, dusty, and for weeks the temperature is in the 100s. The heat here is no joke, and the air quality is pretty bad. “Winter” is the time of year people are outside most, since it is sunny and comfortable, usually in the 60s or 70s. If you can ignore the pollution and five months of unbearable heat, the climate here is alright.
