Fayetteville’s apartment prices are usually as follows: studio rentals (sometimes hard to come by, but they are on the market) are usually $200 or less per month, one bedrooms are $400 or less, and two bedrooms are $650 or less. Of course, if you’re seeking a particularly nice or upscale rental, you can tack on an extra hundred or two onto these averages, but otherwise these are the ranges you should be shopping in. It’s very easy to find affordable housing close to campus; Fayetteville is definitely your best bet. Springdale, which is north of Fayetteville, is slightly more expensive option on average but is also a viable option if you have a car.

The University of Arkansas has a contained campus that allows students to use walking as their primary mode of transportation, from their dorm or apartment to class, the library, the dining hall, friends’ places, and then back home. In fact, less than half of the student body has a car on-campus with them (48%). This 48% of the population more than likely are off-campus students who have to drive to class. Campus is located directly west of Fayetteville’s downtown areas, and east of Interstate 540. Most students look for rentals in Fayetteville, although some decide to live in neighboring areas like Springdale, or commute from home if it’s close.
