Schertz is served by the Schertz-Cibolo-Universal City Independent School District with three elementary, one intermediate, one junior high, and one high school serving students from Schertz. The three elementary schools were given ratings of five, six, and nine by GreatSchools. The intermediate school was given an eight, the junior high a six, and the high school was given a seven. The Samuel Clemens High School is noted for their rigorous programs for high achieving students.

Schertz hosts a number of special events throughout the year that attract thousands of people from the Texas area and a number of prominent celebrities. The Schertz Fest is held every September and features a number of famous performers. During the Festival of Angels the city makes snow for children to play with and get into the winter spirit. Most uniquely is the Wedding Parade, which is one of the largest wedding shows in the state and attracts people from all over the state.
