However, in order to rent here and have the best of the city and suburbia you need to be willing to spend a little extra money. The average rent is about $400 more for a two bedroom apartment than the average rent in North Charleston, but is similar to the average in Charleston. Keep in mind that the average rent in Charleston is boosted due to the high rent apartments along the water and in the city center, so if you were to rent on the outskirts of Charleston it would be cheaper. As with any city, the closer you get to the ocean the more expensive the rent, with rent nearly doubling by the water.
