Pittsburgh is a very pet friendly community, and there are a number of popular apartment properties that allow pets, such as Carriage Park, Lincoln Pointe, Residence at the Docks, and many more. Pittsburgh is home to many local amenities for pets, such as nine spacious and well-maintained off leash dog parks for your pup to enjoy. There are also a number of pet stores owned and operated by animal lovers in the city. Some are reliably chains, such as Petco, and others are small businesses that offer more niche services, such as catering specifically to one type of animal like birds or dogs. There are plenty of other services in the area, like pet grooming, sitting, walking, training, boarding, etc., so your animal can be just as happy as you are in Pittsburgh.

Pittsburgh is an excellent city to rent in -- it is constantly being named the most livable city in the U.S. The term “livable” takes into account the cost of living, crime, chance of natural disasters, and resident happiness among other conditions. Pittsburgh has ranked in the top 20 most livable cities in Places Rated Almanac every year it’s been published, and was ranked the #1 most livable U.S. city by Forbes and Yahoo! in 2010. The city has also been named one of the most livable by the book Cities Ranked and Rated and the Economist. Not only is the quality of living here superb, but right now there are more than twice as many properties on the market for rent than properties for sale.

Pittsburgh may be the second largest city in the state, but you could make a case that it has more culture than Philadelphia. The city is home to many excellent music venues, with Heinz Hall and the Benedum Center hosting Pittsburgh’s orchestra and opera, respectively. Stage AE, the Rex Theater, Club Cafe, and the Carnegie Library Music Hall are other great venues in town. The Andy Warhol Museum is located here, as Pittsburgh is where he was born. Other well-known museums are the Carnegie Museum of Art and the Mattress Factory. If you look around the city you will also find theater groups, an aquarium, aviary, and even casinos. Last but not least, Pittsburgh is home to top-tier professional sports teams like the Steelers and Penguins, as well as successful collegiate teams.
