Pennsylvania State Routes 8 and 28 provide a gateway to Steel City, a.k.a. Pittsburgh. You only have to drive/walk/bike/run ten miles to get there, which isn’t very far at all! It’s about 20 minutes by car usually, traffic obviously changes that though. Then it’ll take around 30-45 minutes on a really bad day. But it almost never takes me 45, usually 35 at the max. The majority of people who live here drive, but if you want to take public transit there’s a bus on Ferguson that goes into Pittsburgh. I have a few friends that do that, but it more than doubles the commute time usually. I’d say overall Allison Park has a very convenient location in proximity to Pittsburgh.

There are a number of terrific schools in Allison Park. In fact, their combined score on school-rating site GreatSchools is a 10 out of 10, which is practically unheard of. No school in A.P. scored an individual grade that was less than an 8 out of 10 on the site. The schools are run by the Hampton Township School District, which also has a 10 out of 10. But I’ll stop dropping all these impressive compliments -- go check out the schools for yourself or talk to parents whose children have gone there. I guarantee you’ll be happy with the public school system in Allison Park.
