West Linn is a fantastic community with an incredibly low crime rate. NeighborhoodScout, a site that measures crime and safety in U.S. cities, ranked West Linn #39 on its Top 100 Safest Cities in the U.S. list in 2010, making it the second safest city in the entire Northwest behind Sammamish, WA. In regards to violent crime, West Linn is 89% safer than the national average, and 81% safer than state average. For property crime, West Linn is 64% safer than the national average, and 64% safer than the state average.
Section 8 & Affordable

Because of the rough state of the housing market and economy, Section 8 waiting lists have been closed in most cities for months, or even years. This is no different in Clackamas County, which West Linn is a part of, but here, unlike most places, they are actively pursuing efforts to open up spots on the waiting list by checking to see if spot-holders are still applicable and interested. By the end of this clean-up, there will hopefully be spots open. On the Clackamas County website, there are other helpful links relating to Section 8, including “opportunity maps,” or maps of which areas of the city have the most opportunity for employment, transportation, health care, etc.
