Since Eugene is the only large city near Springfield, traffic and commuting is not bad in the city. The average commute is only about 10 to 20 minutes since the majority of people either work in Springfield or Eugene. Residents access Eugene via I-105 and the interstate cuts through the entire city of Springfield, which is the only major source of traffic in the city. Interstate 5 also borders the western edge of Springfield and allows residents to access Salem and Portland within two hours.

The Academy of Arts and Academics is a high school that serves students in an effort to expand their artistic horizon and pursue an education in the arts.
