In Tulsa, the disparity between owner occupied properties and rented properties is relatively small, and is shrinking every year. In 2010 there were 99,000 owner occupied properties in the city (53% of the housing units), and 75,000 rented properties (41% of units). These statistics may give the impression that Tulsa still has an owner’s market. However, if you look at properties currently on the market, you will see that 53% of them are for rent (double the national average of 25%), and just 12.8% of them are for sale (2% less than the U.S. average). There is definitely a huge market for renters right now in Tulsa, and a large selection of places to choose from.

You will have absolutely no problem finding ways to spend your night in Tulsa. The city is home to one of the best fine art museums in the country, the Philbrook Museum, which is one of only a few that have an art gallery, garden, and historical home. The Gilcrease Museum offers the most extensive collection of American West art and artifacts in the world. For music and theater, many performances of which are done by the excellent city’s own opera group or symphony, venues like the Tulsa Convention Center, the BOK Center, the Expo Square Pavilion, and the Tulsa Performing Arts Center. The city also hosts annual film and music festivals, and boasts 6,000 acres of recreational space. Culture isn’t the first thing people associate with Tulsa, but it should be.
