Like many cities in the Southwest, Broken Arrow has great Mexican restaurants. Los Cabos, El Tequila, and Ted’s Cafe Escondido are a few examples, and you will miss out if you are in the Tulsa area and don’t check at least one of them out. The city also has traditional American restaurants, such as the Main Street Tavern and the meat-oriented Stone Mill BBQ and Oklahoma Joe’s BBQ. Broken Arrow’s restaurant selection is solid for the average resident, but if you’re a foodie, Tulsa is only a twenty minute drive.

In the past five years, Broken Arrow has received multiple awards for its safety. CQ Press named it the safest city in Oklahoma, and 22nd safest in the entire country. Money Magazine rated it as the 66th best place to live nationwide, and Family Circle Magazine named it one of the ten best U.S. towns for a family to live in, largely because of its public safety. In 2010 the city’s violent crime rate was 55% lower than the U.S.A’s average, and 62% lower than the OK average. Similarly, its property crime rate was 29% and 40% lower, respectively. Broken Arrow is a friendly community that is very family-oriented and safe.
