Commuting and travel in and around Woodbridge is relatively convenient. The Garden State Parkway is accessible for 7.5 miles, through exits 127-131. The New Jersey Turnpike (route 95) is accessible through exit 24, immediately displaying a 24-lane toll gate offering north and south direction. Routes 1 and 9 both serve the township, merging North of Woodbridge, but allowing two entries before it does. The Edison Bridge, on Route 9, extends over the Raritan River. Woodbridge is the northern point of the bridge, connecting it with Sayreville, NJ at the south point. Public transportation is absolutely available, with three train stations located in the township. Metropark, Woodbridge, and Avenel (which has limited service) are serviced by the New Jersey Transit, North Jersey Coast Line, and the Amtrack Northeast Corridor. Trains are available to Penn Station in Newark, Penn Station in New York, Philadelhia, Washington, D.C, and Boston. Busses are also available to and from Woodbridge, providing transport to Newark and Manhattan, as well as local service.

The Woodbridge Recreation Department organizes many regular activities such as sports for all ages. They also offer many other special events for residents yearly. Annually, they have the Mayor’s Summer Concert Series. From the beginning of July to the end of August, concerts are held weekly at the local high school. The department also holds a movie night weekly in the park on a projector screen, and a “Music on Main Street” event regularly, with different types of small bands playing live downtown, both free of charge. Trips are scheduled regularly into New York City, to events such as the Radio City Music hall at Christmas and to Broadway for musicals, and to other nearby cities for Major League Baseball games; Woodbridge organizes bus transportation to and from events.
