Renting rates in New Jersey state on average are also opposite these statistics. Costs for renting in Paterson begin around $800 for a studio, $1,000 for one bedroom, and $1,200 and up from there. Paterson School District includes grades k-12, as well as the Paterson Charter School for Science and Technology. Paterson is one of 31 Abbott districts, now referred to as SDA districts based on the requirement that the state (Schools Development Agency) cover all costs for school building and renovation. The changes were based on negative outcomes regarding students grades, tests scores, and graduation rates. However, as of the 2011 school year, all Paterson high schools were made into theme schools, focusing on specific career paths with the hope of more dedication leading to better future outcomes.
