There is no shortage of restaurants in Jersey City. No matter how much you’re looking to spend, eat or travel, you won’t have a hard time finding something great. A list of every restaurant won’t help and is easy to access, but some recommendations for certain occasions might. For a nice dinner at over $25 a plate, Edward’s Steakhouse is ideal, and Azucar is great as well. For a $15-$25 meal that still has some class, Madame Claude Cafe is a wonderful French bistro, and LITM provides homey american fare and epitomizes a great restaurant view - it’s got an art gallery in the dining room! For a little less, $10-$15 a plate, Honshu Sushi is very popular. For a quick bite under $10, Ibby’s Falafel or the Brownstone Diner are worth visiting. For lunch, check out Marco + Pepe for what Zagat described as “innovative American comfort food”. There are an abundance of choices in Jersey City.

Pet owners looking to move or relocate in the Jersey City area can feel confident in finding a place. Those with large dogs will have a more difficult time, but it is not hopeless. Avalon Cove is a luxurious complex that allows all pets. For those with dogs that might be considered less than large, or cat owners, there is a plethora of options. Most have stipulations, such as a manager or landlord’s approval on dogs, small monthly fee, or a deposit. There are always current options for available places that will welcome tenants and their furry friends.

Using a crime rate index where 100 represents the safest neighborhoods in the United States, Jersey City was given a score of 23, meaning it is safer than just 23% of the country’s cities. Pertaining to violent crimes such as rape, assault and manslaughter, Jersey City has an average almost twice that of the national average. A person’s chances of becoming a victim of a violent crime in Jersey City is 1 in 135. The rate of property crime, such as burglary, theft or grand theft auto, is marginally lower than the national average, but higher than New Jersey state overall, at a rate of 1 per 41 residents. In fact, most of New Jersey’s cities have much lower crime rates than Jersey City. A person’s chances of being victimized by a crime of any kind in Jersey City is 1 in 32. In spite of all of these statistics, when compared to all cities in the country with similar populations, Jersey City’s crime rates are noticeably lower than most.
