Public Transportation
Jersey Rentals - Property Manager
The Hackensack Bus Terminal is a regional transit hub. Many New Jersey cities in this area rely more on railway transport. There are three train stations in Hackensack; the Anderson St. Station serves central Hackensack, Essex St. Station serves the southern area, and the New Bridge Landing Station in the River Edge area serves the northern area of the city, including the Shops at Riverside, a popular shopping destination. All of these stations service the Pascack Valley Line, which run just into New York state, as well as back toward Hoboken. The bus terminal is more densely used, as it provides service to all major travel stops in the area. Seven routes provide service to Port Authority Bus Station in Midtown Manhattan (144, 157, 162, 163-165, 168), three routes to the George Washington Bridge Bus Station (175, 178, 182), one route to Newark (76), one to Jersey City (83), as well as eleven local routes. Many routes originate, stop, and terminate in Hackensack. The Fordham Transit private bus jitney Route 1X terminates at the Hackensack terminal, running between there and Manhattan. There is no shortage of public transportation in Hackensack.
Pet Friendly
Jersey Rentals - Property Manager
Bring your pets! Unless they’re big dogs. Hackensack has plenty of options for pet owners with cats and small dogs; unfortunately none for the big guys. If you have a cat or dog though, myapartmentmap.com has multiple, affordable options. Carol Apartments are an excellent choice, amazing price for the accommodations and area, as are the Arcadia Park Apartments. Prospect Tower is in the mid-level price range, in an extremely convenient location. The Marquee as well as Ambiance at Hackensack are both high-priced, but if they are in your price range could be worth the cost. Depending on the luxury your cat or small dog requires, there is a place for them.

Nightlife
Jersey Rentals - Property Manager
The most popular form of nightlife in Hackensack is the pub atmosphere. If you are looking for the type of place to sit back, grab a beer and maybe some bar food and listen to a juke box, Hackensack has plenty to offer. Harley’s Irish Pub, General Poor’s Tavern, and Lazy Lanigan’s are all local favorites with just that vibe. If you’re looking for a bit more excitement, but not quite a dance club, Lenora’s Bar and Grill is a coyote-uglyesque bar; staff dances on the bar, with a rock and roll style. Firewaters is the local hot-spot for a club with a dj to dance to. There is something for every kind of night in Hackensack, but limited options for each. Conveniently enough, Hackensack is just 12 miles from Manhattan.
