Fort Lee has no shortage of great places to eat. From five start sit down places to hotdog vendors, there is something, and something else, for everybody. Fort Lee has a large Korean community, and catering to that are many Korean restaurants. So Kong Dong is hailed as the best in the city, and relatively cheap. For a high-end meal in Fort Lee, Hiura for Japanese, Prime & Beyond for American/Steakhouse, or Khloe Bistrot for French fare. All very elegant, relaxed, and a little more pricey. For a quick bite, Hiram’s Roadstand is a local favorite, serving hot dogs, burgers and such, and Bibby’s Mediterranean Cafe serves hot quick falafel and kabob meats. These are good places to start for any of your dining needs, there are plenty of places to go from there.

The George Washington Bridge ends directly in Fort Lee. It connects, over the Hudson River, to the Washington Heights area of upper Manhattan. This bridge is the world’s busiest motor vehicle bridge, accounting for much of Fort Lee’s travel. The borough is also served by the New Jersey Turnpike (I-95), Palisades Interstate Parkway, as well as Route 9W, Route 1-9, Route 4, Route 5, Route 67, Route 46, and County Route 505. Many of the routes converge as the George Washington Bridge Plaza, making adjusting routes easy. All of these routes make for quick highway access, but for those who’d rather avoid driving in high traffic, there is also convenient public transportation available. New Jersey Transit busses 154, 156, 158, and 159 provide service to and from Port Authority in Midtown Manhattan, busses 171, 175, 178, 181, 182, 186, and 188 to the GWB Bus Terminal, and busses 751, 753, 755, and 756 provide local service.

Fort Lee School District serves all grades kindergarten through high school. Within Fort Lee, there are four elementary schools, grades k-6. The schools are simply numbered; School #1-School #4. In the 2010-2011 school year, School #3 received the Blue Ribbon School Award of Excellence, the highest honor a school can receive. After one of the four elementary schools, children in Fort Lee will attend Lewis F. Cole Middle School, and finally Fort Lee High School. There are options for private school as well; Christ the Teacher School (Catholic) serves grades PreK-8, and the Fort Lee Education Center serves grades 7-12. Fort Lee has no public preschools. However, there are numerous private options for pre-kindergarten schools. First Step, Fort Lee Montessori, Fort Lee Youth Center Playgroup, Future’s Best Nursery Academy, Greenhouse Preschool, Happy Kids Preschool/Kindergarten, Hooks Lane, Les Enfants Daycare, Palisades, Rainbow School, and Small World Montessori all offer private pre-kindergarten services.
