Restaurants

Jersey Rentals - Property Manager

Considering the population of Englewood, the restaurant selection is outstanding. There are enough great, sit down restaurants to satisfy a city twice the size. Mediterranean food is very popular in the area, and there are plenty of options even within this style. Bennies and the Hummus Elite are the most popular, both Mediterranean food, each perfect for different types of dining. Bennie’s is a bit more expensive, although not very, and for the quality food is a great deal. Hummus Elite is more of a quick bite kind of place, cheaper and more eclectic and casual than Bennie’s. Both great for vegetarians, as most middle-eastern eateries are. For Asian fare, Daruma (Japanese) is a great choice, Best Dumplings (Korean), and Baumgarts is a strange combination of diner food like burgers and shakes, and a full Chinese menu, with tri-state area famous ice cream, worth checking out. The majority of restaurants in Englewood and surrounding cities are BYOB (the four listed are), so check first if you’d like to drink. There are plenty more options, these are the most popular and interesting. Foodies will enjoy all that Englewood has to offer.

Crime & Safety

Crime & Safety

Jersey Rentals - Property Manager

Based on a crime rate index of 100 (being the safest), Englewood rated 40. This means that Englewood is safer than 40% of all cities in the United States. Although this is in the lower half of safety ratings, one must take into account that the rating is actually higher than 27% of cities in the state of New Jersey. Also, compared to other cities of its size throughout the country, Englewood’s crime rate is noticeably low. With a national median of 4 for the national index of violent crimes, and of 3.08 for the statewide index, Englewood rated only a 2.36, just above half the national average. Concerning property crimes, Englewood reached only 18.39, while the national average is 29.4, and statewide is 20.82. Statistically, a person’s chances of being the victim of a property crime is 1 in 52, while the chances of being victimized by a crime of violence is 1 in 424. Both of these odds are, perhaps surprisingly, positive for a resident, especially considering New Jersey averages.

Dwight-Englewood School is private and teaches students from pre-k all the way through high school. Weather

Weather

Jersey Rentals - Property Manager

The climate in Englewood is comparable to most of New Jersey. However, on a national average rating of 100, New Jersey scores 92 as a state, while Englewood is much lower at a score of 69. This could be due to the city’s close position to the Atlantic Ocean, as well as the opening of the Hudson River to the ocean being so close. The hurricane index rating for Englewood is 108, surpassing the national base rate of 100. The hail and tornado index are both 52 out of 100, being at a mid-level chance. The lowest average temperature for the year is 24 degrees (in January), and the highest is 84 (in July). Englewood gets around 27 inches, on average, of snowfall yearly, and about 44 inches of rainfall. If you are comfortable with the weather of the northeast, Englewood’s weather is nothing to be weary of.
