The town of Wake Forest grew 73% in population from 2000-2006, making it one of the fastest growing suburbs in the U.S. Because of this, apartment prices have definitely increased in the last decade. The median rent is constantly fluctuating, but it’s usually around $1,000, give or take a hundred on either side. This makes it one of the more expensive areas to rent in the Raleigh metropolitan area, although Cary, Knightdale, and Raleigh are in the same ballpark. Prices will most likely continue to increase, so if you want to rent here, now would be a good time to do so.

Traffic & Commuting

Wake Forest is only separated from Raleigh by 18 miles via Route 1. This makes it around a half hour drive, which corresponds pretty well with the average commuting time for a Wake Forest resident: 34 minutes. This is almost ten minutes longer than national and state averages, but it makes sense when you take the drive time to Raleigh and add in traffic. The primary means of transportation in WF is a personal vehicle -- 92% of residents drive, and just 0.2% take public transportation.
