Bangor doesn’t have as many apartment complexes as other cities, but it makes up for it with its variety of individual properties. That’s not to say that there aren’t any complexes (The Willows, Park East, etc.), but I think your best chance in finding an excellent rental for a great price lies in individual places that aren’t part of a larger building. Why is this better? Well, most of the time these stand-alone properties are houses, which in my opinion is favorable to an apartment or condo. Also, it’s easier to negotiate with the owners of these places than the owners of complexes. So, you’ll be able to rent a nicer property for a lower cost.

Bangor has dramatically revitalized its music scene, and overall culture, recently with its Waterfront Concert Series. Artists like Zac Brown Band, the Beach Boys, Celtic Woman, and Rascal Flatts have performed there. The city also hosts the Bangor State Fair, which is one of the oldest fairs in the nation, and one of the most popular in New England. Bangor renters also benefit from being close to the ocean; the city is just 25 miles from the coast. As for things to do inside the city, there are around 20 parks, and that’s not including the aquatic center, recreational facilities, gardens, etc. Central and Northern Maine have been unfairly criticized by some as being boring, but in Bangor this is certainly not true.
