One of the largest providers of public transit in the area is Amtrak, which services the city with eight trains. The hub for the trains, Penn Station, has a ridership of around a million every year. The city’s public transportation service, the Maryland Transit Administration, provides buses, light rail lines, and subway access to the city. If you like to walk, Baltimore is a great place to do so -- Walk Score named it the fifteenth most walkable city in the U.S. in 2011.

Baltimore has a great location, as it is just 40 miles from Washington D.C., 100 miles from Philadelphia, and best of all, is located right on the Chesapeake Bay. The city is connected to eight interstates and two state routes/highways. The average commuting time here is around 33 minutes. While this time is seven minutes higher than the national average, it’s still lower than Maryland’s average of 34 minutes.

There are a staggering 6,000 acres of parkland and open space, which consist of everything from golf courses, dog parks, sports fields, lakes, and even forested areas. There are also 55 recreational centers that can keep both kids and adults busy with their classes, activities, training, and amenities. The city also hosts an annual Outdoor Summer Concert Series, which features free concerts from June to September.
