Salem is very pet friendly. A large percentage of the properties in Salem allow pets. Salem has one of the best and largest dog parks in the North Shore. Salme SPACE (http://salemspace.org/) is located right outside downtown just off route 114. In the late afternoon's after work you'll find between 50-100 people exercising their dogs.
Traffic & Commuting

Salem is in a great location but it can be difficult to commute to Boston by car. The Newburyport/Rockport commuter rail runs right downtown and the MBTA bus line also runs to Boston. If you really need to drive, route 107 and route 114 are the main arteries into and out of Salem. 107 runs south to Boston and 114 runs west to 95. Traffic on both roads can be very bad durring rush hour.
