Although not an official dog park, the Pope John Paul II Park is located on the Quincy-Dorchester town line and is an excellent place to bring your dog. Although it is not fenced in, the park boasts vast green spaces for your dog to run and socialize with other dogs and people. The park also serves as a place for people and more often than not there will be soccer games, cyclists, and roller bladders around the park. Currently, there are numerous available apartments in Quincy that allow cats and small and large dogs.

Quincy is home to 52 parks which collectively have many basketball courts, tennis courts, baseball fields, soccer fields, football fields, and a large skatepark. The city also has 18 different “tot-lots” located within the various neighborhoods throughout the city. Along the 27 miles of coast Quincy is home to 10 municipal beaches, offering an excellent place to tan, swim, picnic, or walk along the many trails that stretch along the beaches. Overall, Quincy is an excellent area to raise children with the numerous recreation facilities available.
