Boston’s restaurant scene has a great deal of variety; for example, you can either eat underground (literally) at the Takemura Japanese Restaurant, or 52 stories above the ground at the Top of the Hub restaurant in the Prudential Tower. The variety is also represented in the city’s cuisine options, as each neighborhood has its own distinctive flavor. The North End, considered by most locals to have the best restaurants in the city, is an Italian neighborhood that shows its authenticity with its incredible eateries. Chinatown, located right near downtown, has a variety of its own, as you can find restaurants that represent nearly every Asian nationality. Also, Boston may be the last place you would expect to have an excellent chain of Mexican restaurants, but local favorite Boloco (short for Boston Local Company) is just that. No matter what you want in Boston, you will find it in one of the city’s distinct neighborhoods.
Public Transportation

Like many major cities, Boston has a plethora of public transportation available to it's residents. The Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority, or the MBTA as it is commonly known, offers buses, trains/subways and boats as part of it's public transportation offering. Renters dominate the housing market in Boston, as 65% of all of the housing properties in the city are occupied by renters. Only 31% are occupied by owners. Also, out of all of the available properties on the market, 44% are for rent, and only 10% are for sale. The wide availability of housing can be attributed to the large student population in the city, but to rent here you don’t have to be a student. There are a variety of apartment styles, from studios to three bedrooms, and a lot of great neighborhoods that can be cheap or expensive. Because Boston’s public transportation is so great, you can rent further away from the city center for a cheaper cost, yet still have the same access to downtown as those who live closer. It’s no exaggeration to say that Boston is one of the most renter friendly cities in the U.S.

Most people would agree that Boston is the academic capital of the U.S., as it is home to respected schools like Harvard University, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and Tufts University. Overall, there are over 100 colleges and universities in the Boston metropolitan area, and over 250,000 students in just the cities of Boston and Cambridge alone. An illustrative stat is that 129 of 780 Nobel Prize Winners have worked at a university in Cambridge at one point. The education in Boston is a large reason why it was named the world’s most innovative city by Innovative Cities in 2010, and is continually named one of the smartest cities in the U.S. Even the city’s K-12 education, which has the oldest school district in the nation, has been named the best large city school system in the U.S. by Forbes Magazine.

Boston is known for its history, and you could spend days here touring all of the historical sites the city has to offer. The most popular historic attraction here is the Freedom Trail, which is a 2.5 mile walk from the Boston Common to the Bunker Hill Monument, and features 16 stops, including the State House, Faneuil Hall, and the Paul Revere House, to name a few. For recreational amenities, the city offers 2,200 acres of park land, and is home to the Boston Common, which is the oldest public park in the country. The city’s Emerald Necklace is a chain of nine parks and waterways, 1,100 acres of open space total, that sits along the Boston peninsula.
