Apartment Costs
Roger Whitemoore - Property Manager
Indianapolis is one of the fastest growing cities in the nation, and one of the main reasons why is its inexpensive housing. The cost of the average two bedroom apartment is $745, which is cheaper than the same property in most of its suburbs, such as Greenwood, Camby, Plainfield, Brownsburg and Avon. To put it another way, Indianapolis is the second largest city in the Midwest; the largest city, Chicago, costs twice as much, $1627, for the average two bedroom apartment. Indianapolis has a wide variety of places to choose from, no matter what your price range is.
Traffic & Commuting
Roger Whitemoore - Property Manager
Barely anyone here in Indianapolis takes advantage of public transit options, mostly because they aren’t very extensive. Instead, 92% of the residents here drive to work every day. The city is connected to six interstates, six U.S. highways, and four state highways. The average commute for a person going to work, one way, is around 25 minutes, usually. This is identical to the state average of 25 minutes, and just a minute quicker than the U.S. average of 26.
Schools & Education
Roger Whitemoore - Property Manager
For primary and secondary education, Indianapolis has nine school districts that serve the city, the largest being Indianapolis Public Schools with 37,000 students. For higher education, the city is home to eleven colleges and universities. The most well-known schools are Ball University, the University of Indianapolis, and the Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis campus.
Recreation
Roger Whitemoore - Property Manager
Even though the weather isn’t perfect here year round, there are plenty of places to enjoy the sun in the spring, summer, or even fall. The city has 10,000 acres of public open space split between 200 parks. Indianapolis is also home to the Indy 500, the famous annual car race that is the largest single day sporting event in the world with 257,000 seats. If you’re not a racing fan, the city also has professional football and basketball teams, as well as competitive collegiate sports. Indianapolis is also home to many museums, including the largest children’s museum in the world.
