The talk of the town has been the Metro-North station that is being constructed in West Haven and will open sometime in the near future. For those of you who don’t know, Metro-North is the commuter rail service for New York City, and right now it has stops in nearby Milford and New Haven. With a new stop in West Haven, residents will be able to commute to NYC, or anywhere in between, on a daily basis. Currently, public transit is provided by the Connecticut Transit New Haven bus service.

There are a lot of rentals on the market right now in West Haven (on MyApartmentMap there were almost 40 the last time I checked), and a lot more that will surface at the end of the season. But the vacant properties don’t tell the whole story -- last year there were only 2,000 less rentals (9,401) than owned houses (11,801) in West Haven. The market is becoming more varied each year, and when you factor in the quality of life in West Haven, it makes perfect sense to rent here.
