Shelton is one of the only places in Connecticut that has its own Sheriff’s department, and the benefits of this are evident. Shelton has been listed on a few rankings of the top safest cities in the U.S., most recently on NeighborhoodScout’s annual compilation. The revitalization of its downtown area, which received around a hundred million dollars of private investment money, has also helped curbed crime in recent years. Shelton is now undoubtedly one of the safest communities in Connecticut.

$94,485 for the average family’s income. I wouldn’t be surprised if these figures were in six digits now. You’re going to have to stretch your budget to live here, but with the low crime rate, excellent schools, and high quality of life, I would say it’s worth it.
