Some of the best Asian restaurants in the bay area can be found in South San Francisco, a city tourists often overlook. If you’re craving Filipino cuisine, check out Boracay Garden & Grill, Karilagan, Alido’s Island Flavor, or Ongpin. For Thai, eat at Chang Puak - White Elephant Restaurant or the Thai Original BBQ, If you want dim sum, swing by the Grand Palace or Hung to Seafood. For Chinese, go to Dumpling Empire, Paradise, or Sky Dragon. South San Francisco has excellent restaurants for different types of food, such as Italian or Mexican, but the city’s culinary scene is known for its great Asian food.

San Francisco has the third most popular public transportation system in the U.S., as 32% of residents use it to commute to work every day. Muni is the largest transit service in the city, and operates a light rail, the subway, buses, streetcars, and cable cars. Also provided to the area by different companies are commuter rail service, regional bus lines, long distance bus service, and trains. In addition, cycling is popular here: 75,000 San Francisco residents commute to work by bicycle every day. It should also be mentioned that walking is a great option, as the 2011 Walk Score named San Francisco the second most walkable city in the country.

In 2010, there were nearly two times as many properties being rented (233,817) than owned (123,873). Those figures continue to rise as more people are realizing that San Francisco is an extremely renter friendly city. Overall, the apartment costs mostly reflect the high cost of living in the city, but there are obviously more and less expensive neighborhoods. And with so many available apartments, you are sure to be able to find something that suits your style and price range.

San Francisco supports a staggering nightlife scene that can entertain anyone, from young bachelors to married couples. For live concerts, there are a number of venues in San Francisco and nearby Oakland and San Jose. For sporting events in the city, there are baseball and football teams, and in a few years, a basketball team. The city also has several acclaimed comedy/improv clubs, such as the EndGames Improv, and nightclubs, such as the Verdi Club. Best of all, AC Transit, Muni, and SamTrans provide “Owl” transportation services, which are buses, trains etc. that run until 5 a.m., so you can stay out on the town for as late as you please, and not have to worry about driving to get home.
