There are over a hundred San Bernardino apartment listings on this site right now. Yes, you read that right, a hundred! They range from studio apartments to four bedroom estates, $500 deals to $2,000 mansions, downtown hotspots to suburban outskirts... you get the picture. What I’m trying to say is there’s a lot of variety. San Bernardino has gotten a bad rap in the press after it, along with Stockton CA, was filed for bankruptcy last month (July 2012). However, I just see this as an opportunity for renters and homebuyers to hit the market while it’s cheap, then reap the benefits when the city recovers.
Section 8 & Affordable

There are around ten Section 8 listings on this site for San Bernardino. This number will fluctuate daily. Considering the depleted stock of Section 8s in most places, this is a fairly sizable amount. If you can’t find a Section 8 listing that fits your needs, the rental prices in San Bernardino are very reasonable. It’s not unheard of to find a multi-bedroom apartment for less than $1000. But I would primarily focus on Section 8 because there are good options here, and if you need assistance, the Housing Authority of the County of San Bernardino can be a great help.
