Restaurants
Hank Watson - Property Manager
Los Angeles has ranked in the top five on lists of U.S. cities with the best restaurants for decades, and are constantly churning out new five-star restaurants to complement the older, more established eateries. New restaurants include the Soleto Trattoria, with its delicious pizza, the Japanese Chaya Downtown, and English-styled The Parish. For established restaurants, you can’t go wrong with the pasta at Cardini, French-influenced American dishes at Checkers Downtown, or the Latin cuisine at Ciudad. No matter which type of food you like, local or exotic, or type of restaurant, an upstart or established favorite, you will easily be able to enjoy an excellent meal here anytime you want.
Public Transportation
Hank Watson - Property Manager
One out of every ten LA residents uses public transportation, which is much higher than national and state averages, but is much lower than ridership rates in comparable cities like New York, Boston or Boston. Public transit is controlled by the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority. They offer access to buses (second busiest in U.S.), the subway (ninth busiest), and light rail (second busiest). The city is also widely served by Amtrak, and also by private bus services like Greyhound.
Crime & Safety
Hank Watson - Property Manager
Crime in Los Angeles has a negative stigma, mostly because past issues of inner city gangs. Some issues still exist, but mostly crime overall is experiencing a significant downward trend. For example, in 2009 there were 314 homicides in the city, which is a 50-year low, and nearly a third of the homicides from sixteen years before in 1993. Nationwide, Los Angeles has actually ranked below the U.S. average in certain crimes the past few years.
Recreation
Hank Watson - Property Manager
When you think of LA’s nightlife, you may think of Hollywood movie screenings, nightclubs, or concerts. What you may not know is that there are 841 museums and art galleries in LA, which is the most per capita than any other city in the world. There is also a silent movie theater, pirate-themed bar, and a murder mystery-type restaurant where you can solve a crime while eating dinner. My point is that there are so many nightlife opportunities here it’s hard to limit them to just nightclubs or concerts... but even if you were to do so, you would arguably still have the best nightlife in the U.S.
