Danville has always been one of the safest communities in the U.S., and recently it was recognized as such. Neighborhood Scout, a company that uses FBI crime data to rate the safety in different cities, listed Danville as one of the Top 100 Safest Cities in the U.S.A. The findings of the 2010 crime report here showed that Danville’s violent crime rate was lower than national and state averages by 89% and 90%, respectively. Its property crime rate was also lower than national and state rates by 54% and 49%, respectively.

Danville is definitely one of the wealthiest suburbs in the entire Bay area, and in California. Businessweek has named it the 41st most expensive zip code in the U.S. So, naturally, apartment prices here are going to be on the higher side of the price range. The median rent here is $1,919, which is double the U.S. average ($950), and is almost double the already-high California average ($1,149). The fact that there isn’t a huge apartment selection in Danville doesn’t help, as most of the properties here are for sale. However, if you can afford the large price tag, Danville is one of the finest communities in the country.
