There are several headquarters of major retail chains in Compton, and the Alameda Corridor, which sees 25% of all waterway trades in the country, passes right through the city. In 2007, Gateway Towne Center opened, providing over 1,000 new jobs, bringing in business from other cities, and escalating the city’s tax revenue by 30%. There are many industries of all types in Compton, and economically it is becoming stronger and consistently offering more opportunity.
