Phoenix is the sixth largest city (population-wise) in the U.S., and according to MyApartmentMap’s rental data, it also has the cheapest rent out of any of the top ten largest cities. The average two bedroom apartment costs $839 here. In San Diego and Philadelphia, which have very similar populations, the costs for the same space are $1763 (SD) and $1400 (Philly). Even locally, Phoenix has fairly inexpensive renting prices: Tempe, Scottsdale, and Paradise Valley are all more expensive. If you look to rent in Phoenix, you will almost certainly be able to find a great deal.

Driving is by far the most popular means of transportation here in Phoenix -- this is how 88% of the city’s residents get to work every day. Walking and biking to work aren’t very popular because of the city’s stifling hot weather. Even waiting for a bus can be miserable if there aren’t any canopies at the bus stop. As for nearby cities, Mesa is 20 miles away, Glendale is nine miles, Tempe is eleven miles, and Scottsdale is twelve miles. The average commute time to work (one way) for Phoenix residents is 25 to 30 minutes.

There are over 15 other schools in the area, ranging from seminaries (Phoenix Seminary), to law schools (Phoenix School of Law), to business schools (Thunderbird School of Global Management), and so on.
